We have one employee who has tested positive for COVID-19. The last time this employee was at Sundara was on June 26th, and they began experiencing symptoms after that, so we instructed them not to return to work until they were tested. Their positive test result came back July 14th, at which point we closed the restaurant and contacted the San Diego County Health Department. The health department advised us that due to the length of time the employee was away without any contact with other staff, none of whom have developed symptoms, that we could choose to remain open, but we have decided to close until we have all of our employees tested. We would rather err on the side of caution in order to protect our staff and community. As you are probably aware, there are currently long delays in receiving test results so we don’t know exactly when we will reopen, but we expect to be closed for several days. In the meantime, we will also have the entire restaurant professionally sanitized.
We’re sincerely grateful for how many of you have continued to order takeout and delivery during the pandemic, and for all the kind words of encouragement you have given us as we try to navigate these strange times. We will let you know as soon as we reopen, and we hope to see you all again soon!
